Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to collaborate with famous director Liz Garbus on a documentary series.

According to prior reports, their project would be an "at-home" type show that would be published as part of the couple's Netflix arrangement.

However, royal reporter Richard Eden claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are already distancing themselves from the show as a defensive measure.

Eden noted in his Palace Confidential piece that viewers will witness a Netflix film about them that "they are anxious to distance themselves from," and it's clear why - it would look awful for the British royal family.

It is widely believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's documentary series would contain a great deal of negative content. According to the royal writer and expert, the couple would all blame it on the director.

"They want to be able to claim, 'That's simply the director's vision, nothing to do with us.'" It's really concerning."

In an interview with Variety, Meghan Markle stated that she was able to trust the filmmaker with their narrative, "even if it means it may not be delivered the way we would have told it."

She went on to note that it wasn't because they were "trusting our tale to someone else, and that means it would go through their lens" that they opted to express it out loud.

The revelation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle making explanations and avoiding criticism comes after they were accused of "quite nasty" initiatives, according to the royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Netflix program is a "vanity project," according to one royal observer.

According to sources, their docuseries will still be released this year despite Queen Elizabeth II's death.

However, royal commentator Nile Gardiner stated that the timing of the release made it particularly repulsive.

He even accused the former "Suits" actress of being obsessed with "advancing her own image and position."

"The Netflix documentary is a vanity effort, and Megan is obviously playing off her royal title and connections here."

The expert advised Meghan not to do so and instead to appreciate what the monarchy is about and what it stands for.

"She should not use this opportunity to start her own lofty dreams." So, what is occurring is very, very disgusting."
