According to data from Statista's Consumer Insights, there's one gift U.S. adults are hoping to receive this Christmas -- it's the all-mighty dollar. That's right! Americans between 18 and 64 years old would be very happy to receive money.
In fact, of the 1,045 survey respondents, 50% of women said they hope to receive cash or money transfers. Thirty-six percent (36%) of men shared the same sentiment.
Most Desired Christmas Gifts in The U.S.
A close second on the list of the most desired Christmas gifts in the U.S. is vouchers or gift cards -- 42% of women and 34% of men would be happy to find these stuffed in their stockings.
The overlap continues as both demographics -- 42% of women and 28% of men -- also look to unwrap clothing and shoes on Christmas day.

Not interested in gifting money, an Amazon gift card or clothes? Other best gift ideas for her based on Statista's poll are cosmetics and body care products, coming in fourth (36%) on the list for women.
Completing the top 10 are jewelry (24%), books/ eBooks (23%), food and drinks (22%), gadgets like smartphones and tablets (22%), travel-related gifts (20%) and event tickets (19%). Maybe a Taylor Swift "Eras Tour" ticket if you're feeling generous!
Google's data on most trending gift searches also showed scrunchies and claw clips are among the top gift searches, as well as lab-grown jewels and human dog beds.

On the other hand, other best gift ideas for the special man in your life would be gadgets (24%), food/ drinks (23%), computers and accessories (22%), consumer electronics (20%) and jewelry/ watches (16%).
Other items that made it to the list are toys, furniture and charity donations under the recipient's name.
If you're wondering what the least popular gift idea is -- decoration articles were the lowest scoring at 7% for females and 6% for males.
The survey polled 1,045 adults in the U.S. between 18 and 64 years old on Oct. 19 to 29, 2023.
Interestingly though, despite the festivities, Christmas isn't the most popular national holiday in the United States. As of Q2 2023, Thanksgiving remains the biggest holiday with a popularity rating of 79%. Memorial Day came in second with 78% and Christmas Day is third with 78%.
