Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, June "Mama June" Shannon's oldest daughter and Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson's sister, has died following her battle with cancer. She was 29.

Shannon shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram Sunday, alongside a family photo.

"With the breaking heart, we are announcing that [Anna Cardwell] is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 [p.m.]," the 44-year-old reality TV matriarch wrote. "She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months."

Shannon added that Cardwell "passed away with her family around her" and that the family will give fans more information at a later time.

"We love y'all," the reality star wrote before concluding her post by requesting "continued prayers and thoughts for our family" during this "difficult time."

In a tribute to her sister, Thompson shared on Instagram, "I really don't know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my [29-year-old] sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn't been easy. Anna was a fighter [and] still is."

"I'm so glad that you waited til [I] was home to take your last breath!" she added. "I would've loved for you to get to see me graduate college but [I] know you will forever cheer me on in heaven! We will all make sure your legacy lives on forever."

Cardwell, known for her appearances in "Toddlers & Tiaras" and the reality series "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" from 2012 to 2017, was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in her liver, kidney, and lung in early 2023. The diagnosis was later confirmed as terminal.

Shannon and her family received an outpouring of support and condolences from fans and well-wishers.

"I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss," Jennifer "JWoww" Farley commented on Shannon's post.

"I am so sorry for your loss... I don't even know what to say. Praying so hard for your family at this time," one fan wrote. "Anna will be remembered forever."

"Rest in peace, Anna... Fly high with the angels," another comment read.

On Friday, just a day before Cardwell's passing, Mama June had requested prayers for her family on Instagram, stating, " Y'all we [are] asking for prayers for our family as we are going through this process."

"We really appreciate y'all for all the thoughts and prayers and we will update y'all whenever we can," she continued. "Just know that all of your thoughts and your prayers are very much appreciated during this time."

Cardwell started her chemotherapy in March and shared updates on her treatment on social media.

In May, she mentioned being in the middle of her third round of chemotherapy, expressing optimism about its effectiveness.

Cardwell was estranged from her mother for years.

After reports surfaced in 2014 that Shannon was had gotten back together with ex-boyfriend and convicted sex offender Mark McDaniel, Cardwell came forward to allege that she had been assaulted by McDaniel when she was 8. He had been dating Shannon at the time.

"I would feel hurt. I would not feel betrayed, but I would feel hurt. You know the past should be in the past and it should stay in the past and not come back out," Cardwell, who moved out of Shannon's home in 2003, told People of her mom's dating news in 2014.

In 2015, Cardwell sued Shannon for allegedly unpaid appearances on "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."

Despite past challenges, the mother and daughter put their differences aside for Cardwell's sister Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird's baby shower in Georgia in 2021.

It marked the first time Shannon had reunited with all four of her daughters, who also include Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon, since 2014.

The family also gathered together in February when Shannon married Justin Stroud.

Cardwell is survived by her mother Mama June, daughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison, and sisters Lauryn, Alana, and Jessica.
