"Sex Education" star Gillian Anderson, who played sex therapist Dr. Jean Milburn on the show, arrived at the 2024 Golden Globes wearing a dress covered in embroidered vaginas.

While Anderson's cream-colored dress by Gabriela Hearst looked normal and simple from afar, when viewed closely, the dress' voluminous skirt seemed filled with white-colored vulva-shaped embroideries.

According to Hearst's New York team, it took them three-and-a-half hours to stitch the pattern onto Anderson's red-carpet dress, per British Vogue.

Anderson also took to Instagram to share a video clip featuring her Golden Globes outfit. Before thanking her friend Hearst for collaborating with her in making her "beautiful custom embroidered dress," she wrote the hashtag #yonioftheday.

"Yoni" is a Sanskrit word that literally translates to the womb. It also connotes the female sexual organs such as the vagina, vulva and uterus.

In a follow-up, Anderson shared a photo of her holding a sausage that she captioned, "Sometimes you just need a sausage to go with your yoni dress."

During the event, Deadline Hollywood asked Anderson to explain why she chose to wear a vagina-embroidered dress, and she responded, "Oh, for so many reasons. For so many reasons. It's brand appropriate."

Meanwhile, in her interview with British Vogue, she said, "Since my Instagram presence has been highlighting yonis since 'Sex Education' landed on Netflix and with the mantra of my brand G-spot being to 'prioritize pleasure,' I wanted to bring this element into the design."

"I'm so pleased Gabriela was up for the challenge," she added.
