Former Bachelorette star Emily Maynard offered advice for the upcoming Bachelor star Juan Pablo Galavais.

Maynard passed along advice for Galavais, 32, a Venezuelan single father in an interview with E! News on Thursday.

Galavais landed the gig after he was eliminated by Desiree Hartsock during season 12 of The Bachelorette season 9 last month.

Maynard, who is also a single parent to a daughter, Ricki, suggested that he takes his daughter's advice when choosing a possible wife.

"It's a really hard situation to be in anyway, being the Bachelor or Bachelorette, but adding being a single parent into the mix makes it that much harder," Mynard explained to E! News. "But it's also a blessing because children are brutally honest and keep you very grounded."

"I just say keep talking to her every day and keep her to the forefront of your mind in all your choices, and I'm sure he will!" Maynard said of his daughter Camila, 4.

The former Bachelorette said being on the reality show requires a lot of energy, so she strongly advises that Galavais "drink lots of coffee."

"You're not going to get much sleep," she explained.

She also said he should follow his instincts when he receives answers from the contestants.

"Based on their answers, follow your gut," she advised.

Maynard previously appeared on ABC's hit franchise twice. The first time as a contestant on season 15 of The Bachelor with Brad Womack. When she failed to win his heart she became The Bachelorette for season 8. She became engaged to winner Jeff Holm during the second stint but the pair later split in 2011.

Galavais was announced as the next year's Bachelor on Monday. Chris Harrison shared the news live on television during After The Rose, The Bachelorette special that followed the season's finale.
