Prince Harry is reportedly willing to return to his royal duties temporarily following King Charles' cancer diagnosis, but one royal expert believes it's for his own benefit.

Several reports recently claimed that the Duke of Sussex is willing to serve the monarchy four years after he quit his royal duties. Prince Harry reportedly wants to make the move to support his sick father. King Charles, 75, was recently diagnosed with cancer and would be stepping away from his royal duties for his treatment.

Russell Myers, royal editor for Daily Mirror, spoke with Sky News and weighed in on the reports about Prince Harry wanting to return to his royal duties. For Myers, it was a "beggars belief" that the royals would welcome Meghan Markle's husband back.

"This a move by Prince Harry... he wants a temporary role within the family, that he's willing to come back and help out the firm, seeing as King Charles is on the sideline with his cancer treatment," Myers said.

"It's beggars belief, to be honest. I think that Harry seems to think he can have a role within the family, but the family have certainly other ideas."

Myers stressed that the Sussexes left the royal family "to have financial freedom" outside the monarchy, so his return could be for the same reason because his and Markle's efforts in the United States have not "really worked out well."

Myers continued, "They left in sort of a blaze of glory after deciding to quit the royal family and saying that they were going to make tens and tens of millions of dollars in the corporate world, and it hasn't really worked out well for Harry and Meghan."

"The Netflix deal is on the rocks. Meghan lost her Spotify deal, and Harry's memoir was pretty explosive. Nobody spared from his barbs within the pages of the book."

In Myers' opinion, there is no chance for Prince Harry to return to his royal duties.

Meanwhile, sources claimed that Prince Harry's father, King Charles, and big brother, Prince William, share the same stand about his fate in the monarchy. The monarch and the heir apparent are reportedly not open to having Prince Harry back to serving the institution.

"Have the King and Harry been speaking? Yes," an unnamed source told the Daily Mail. "Does this mean a return to the fold, even on a temporary basis? No. Aside from a small number of investitures, the King does not plan to offload a great number of duties on other family members while he undergoes treatment."

A source with knowledge of the matter also told Mirror that the Prince of Wales "would not allow Harry to return." The Duke of Cambridge reportedly "thought it was a bad idea at the time, and he's even more clear now."

Irish journalist Kevin O'Sullivan of TalkTV also shared his thoughts about the issue. He claimed that Prince Harry's family doesn't want him back.

"He's never coming back, and not only does William not want him back, nor does the king," O'Sullivan claimed.
