Two British actors passed away last week, and both were in their 80s.

John Savident, who played butcher Fred Elliott for 12 years on ITV's "Coronation Street," died on Wednesday. He was 86.

Savident's agent confirmed the sad news in a statement to the press.

"We are sad to announce the death of the actor John Savident who died on Wednesday, 21 February. He was a much-loved husband and father of two and will be sorely missed by all who knew him," the statement read, per Deadline.

"Coronation Street" also posted about Savident's passing on its official X account, paying tribute to the veteran actor.

"Everyone at Coronation Street is deeply saddened to learn of John Savident's death. As Fred Elliott, John firmly established himself in the pantheon of Coronation Street greats," the official account of the TV show wrote. "His peerless comic timing, combined with a deep pathos arising from his outstanding dramatic skill, made Fred an unforgettable, iconic character that provided great joy to viewers for many years."

Several netizens also paid tribute to Savident on social media. According to them, he was their favorite.

"Rest In Peace Fred Elliott [red heart emoji] John Savident was one of our favorites when we watched Corrie together. I say ....he was one of our favorites. Thank you, John, for making us laugh every time," one wrote.

"It seems an appropriate moment to share my absolute favorite Fred Elliott moment of all time, which I still quote to my niece, even though technically she no longer qualifies... RIP John Savident," another added.
