An anonymous source has denied the rumors romantically linking Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri.

On Monday, Deuxmoi, an Instagram page posting celebrity rumors, shared a screenshot of a message from an anonymous sender debunking Mescal and Edebiri's dating rumors.

As seen on the Instagram Story, the anonymous source said, "Anon please but the Ayo/Paul rumor is false. They're acquaintances but truly nothing more."

The post seemed like a follow-up to a statement Deuxmoi released last year about the relationship status of the two actors. In September 2023, Deuxmoi received a tip that the Irish actor and the 28-year-old "The Bear" actress "always seemed to be flirting" but "still playing the field."

"Hey! Not sure if this is the tea that you already know... so I have friends in London and a couple in Dublin, and Paul Mescal is seen out and about a lot and always seems to be flirting with the ladies. Love Paul+Ayo as a couple, but I definitely feel like she's still in the 'playing the field' zone," the insider stated.

The dating rumors surrounding Paul and Ayo resurfaced online after the two celebrated St. Patrick's Day together.

In a now-expired Instagram Story, the "Bottoms" star posted a photo of her and the "Aftersun" actor laughing while seated on a stairwell, per People. In the photo captioned "Happy St. Paddy's," Edebiri had her arms wrapped around Mescal's shoulder.

In other photos from the same stairwell, the two actors were joined by director Oliver Hermanus and playwright Jeremy O. Harris.

Enstarz could not independently confirm the real relationship status of Mescal and Edebiri.

Meanwhile, the two actors' holiday photo together also sparked rumors of an on-screen collaboration.

According to Us Weekly, the rumor that they will star in an upcoming film adaptation of one of Emily Henry's books grew even more when the author reposted the Paul-Ayo photo on her Instagram Story.

Interestingly, Tango Entertainment, the producer of Mescal's movie "Aftersun," bought the film rights to Henry's "Book Lovers" in March 2023.

Henry's novel follows the story of a literary agent named Nora who runs into a book author named Charlie while on a vacation in North Carolina.

The cast for "Book Lovers" has yet to be announced.
