During a surprise appearance on Friday's episode, the singer-actress shared insights into her near-casting as a legendary superhero. Despite not recalling the film's title, Jackson, 57, distinctly remembered the actress who eventually secured the role after her refusal.

The 'Good Times' alum said, "It was... this is horrible. I can't remember the film, but Halle Berry played Storm," Jackson said. Barrymore responded, "X-Men?"

"I couldn't because I was just embarking on the Janet tour," Jackson elaborated.

Berry, 57, first portrayed her superhero character Storm in the 2001 film, adapted from the Marvel comic book series. She went on to reprise her role in subsequent installments including 'X2,' 'X-Men: The Last Stand,' and 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.'

Barrymore added how she turned down a project she was once interested in taking, but went a different direction.

"It's so hard when you, like, are thinking of doing a film and then you don't end up doing it," she elaborated. "I have so many of those experiences. I've never said this out loud, 'Boogie Nights,' " Barrymore, 49, recalled. "There was a moment where we were talking about 'Boogie Nights' and I think it's when I went and did 'Ever After' [A Cinderella Story] and I went in a very different direction."

The 5-time Grammy Award winner hasn’t appeared on the big screen in over a decade. Her first movie role was John Singleton's 'Poetic Justice' (1993) alongside Tupac Shakur and Regina King. She went on to star in Tyler Perry's 'Why Did I Get Married?' series. Her last role was Joanna Bradmore in 2010's 'For Colored Girls.'

When asked if she would be open to return to acting, she responded, “I would for sure.”
