The trailer for James Franco's upcoming film, Child of God, has been released.

The film, which has been written and directed by Franco, is an adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy book, will premiere and compete at the Venice film festival tihs week. It will also be screened as a special presentation at the Toronto Film Festival and the New York Film Festival.

Scott Haze (As I Lay Dying) stars in the film which is about an outsider turned serial killer in 1960s Tennessee. Set to a country-banjo riff, the narrator's voice, which has a distinct southern drawl, introduces the protagonist (Haze) in the teaser: "He was of German and Irish bloods, his name was Lester Ballard, child of God, much like yourself perhaps."

Franco's short film Interior.Leather.Bar, the re-imagining of the censored 40 minutes of Cruising, was recently picked up for distribution by Strand. Franco is also busy with fast-tracking the production of Palo Alto Stories, a three-part film anthology based on his eponymous book chronicling his high-school experiences. He launched a crowd-funding campaign in June to help finance the film. The campaign raised $327,000 for the film.

Franco will also be hosting a new show, James Franco Presents, which will premiere in November on the independent cable network Ovation. It will comprise of ten 1-hour long episodes featuring Franco talking about all the art, literature, and culture that he is currently interested in. Franco will also showcase some of his "experimental" short films and videos of his on the series.
