M.I.A released a new song, Come Walk With Me, on Monday

The track is off her upcoming album Matangi, which will hit stores in Nov. 4 and be available for pre-order on iTunes from Tuesday. The singer-songwriter initially announced that she would be releasing the song on Aug. 29 via Twitter and that same month she threatened to leak her much-awaited album online.

"If Interscope takes longer I can always leak this next week and make a new one by the time they are ready," she tweeted on Aug. 8.

The angst was directed at her music label, which had been waffling over the release date, and elicited a prompt response from executives who then announced the album's official release date.

In late August she also released a single titled Unbreak My Mixtape via Twitter, which sampled guitar lines from Blur's Tender and Carly Simon's Why.

The Steve Loveridge documentary about M.I.A was put on the backburner for a while, but the singer announced in an Aug. 21 tweet that the project was back up: "doc started back up today." Loveridge had previously suggested quitting the project saying, "I would rather die than work on this."

Come Walk With Me has a playful vigor about it, but the lyrics suggest otherwise.

"There is nothing that can touch me now/You Can't even break me down...It's cool/Takes two/I'm going to still f*** with you."

Two minutes in, the sound takes a detour, breaking into Asian strains interspersed with electro-grooves, a sturdy thump underscores the entire song.
