After well over a year of speculation, the actors who have landed the lead roles in the film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey have finally been announced, as Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson will don the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

James had taken to Twitter to post the following messages in regards to the castings:

"The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," she said.

"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," James posted.

While several fans were undoubtedly satisfied with the choices, many others weren't too thrilled with the decisions.

"Who the heck are these people who got casted for fifty shades?...," one fan wrote.

"Of all the people, they pick those 2 to be the characters for fifty shades of grey? ugh why?" Another said.

Hunnam, 33, is best known for his role on FX's hit biker series Sons of Anarchy while Johnson, 23, could be seen in The Social Network.

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who's currently working on the script, said that she'd be staying true to the content of author E.L. James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. The highly anticipated movie is slated to launch on the big screen on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014.
