The niece of Vice President Joe Biden was taken in custody after she hit a police officer in a New York City apartment. 

Police said Tuesday that Caroline Biden was arrested after she called cops to her apartment over a dispute she was having with her roommate about rent issues. 

According to police, they tried to break up an intense fight between Caroline and her roommate, when the niece of the Vice President lunged at an officer. 

"The female officer started to fill out paperwork, and Biden objected to it and lunged at the female officer," the source said. "She kinda swung at the officer. The male officer intervened and Biden became uncooperative and aggressive."

Caroline was then put in handcuffs after resisting arrest. 

The 26-year-old was arrested on charges of obstructing governmental administration, harassment and resisting arrest. 

The New York Daily News that Caroline apparently became sick at the 1st police station in Tribeca where she was being held around 4:30 pm, 7 hours after her arrest. 

"She complained of not feeling well," a source said. 

Caroline was dressed in black leggings and white high-top Converse sneakers without shoelaces and was photographed leaving the precinct in a wheelchair, being pushed by an EMT worker. A white sheet covered her entire body to block photographers from seeing her face.

She reportedly told cops she hadn't taken her medication for a preexisting heart issue.
