Idris Elba revealed that he suffered a wardrobe malfunction on his first day on the set of Thor: The Dark World.

The British actor revealed that when he went to film the sequel to 2011's Thor, he no longer fit in his Asgardian gatekeeper costume the same way he did in the prequel.

Elba was unable to fit into his original costume because he bulked up since he wore it last. He became more physically fit and increased his muscle mass for the films Prometheus, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Pacific Rim.

"It was torture actually. The costume really doesn't fit me anymore," Elba told Entertainment Wise at the world premiere.

However, Elba said he still enjoyed his time on set.

"But it was good fun, it was good to bring it back," he explained. "We got to experiment a little bit and expand into the character and the world more."

Elba wrapped the finale season of his British television film series Luther, earlier this year. He is currently garnering Oscar buzz for playing the title role in the upcoming biopic Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

Thor: The Dark World follows Thor as he attempts to save Earth and all the Nine Realms. The film once again stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Thor's evil brother Loki and Natalie Portman as Thor's love interest on Earth, Jane Foster.

The Marvel sequel Thor 2: Dark World arrives in theaters stateside on Nov 8.
