Thor: The Dark World opened with big numbers at the foreign box office bringing in $109.4 million a week before its North American release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie opened in 36 countries over the weekend, which represents 70 percent of the international market. In the U.K. movie tickets totaled $13.4 million while France garnered $9.4 million, Mexico had $8.2 million and Brazil brought in $8.1 million.

The second installment opens in North America on Nov. 8.

'Thor 2: The Dark World' Villains Spoilers

Thor: The Dark World follows Thor as he attempts to save Earth and all the Nine Realms. The film once again stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.

Portman recently confirmed that a third Thor film is probably happening. When E! News mentioned to the actress that her co-star, Anthony Hopkins, wants a third installment she replied, "I think they are going to make Thor 3 so I think Anthony will be pleased."

A movie clip released in October, shows the extremes Thor has to go to in the sequel. The superhero is heard telling his enemy, Loki, "I know you seek vengeance as much as I do. You help me escape Asgard and I will grant it to you."

To that, Loki responds, "You must be truly desperate to come to me for help. What makes you think you can trust me?"
