Bumbling Detective Frank Drebin is back and this time he looks a lot like Ed Helms.

The Office star will be taking on the investigators clueless persona for a reboot of the classic comedy, The Naked Gun, according to Variety.

Originally portrayed by the late Leslie Nielsen, Drebin will have the chance to bring his slapstick and wit to the big screen once more in a new Paramount adaptation penned by Thomas Lennon and R. Ben Garant (Reno 911, Night At The Museum).

Created by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker for the 1982 short-lived ABC series Police Squad!, Detective Drebin was given new life through Paramount's 1988 release, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!. Riding the success of the first film, the trio of Abrahams, Zucker, and Zucker went on to create 1991's The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear, and 1994's Naked gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult.

For his part, Helms has cultivated a comedy resume that The Naked Gun will slot into nicely. The 39-year-old actor is most well known for his stint as Andy Bernard in The Office and his role of Stu in 2009's breakout comedy, The Hangover, and its subsequent sequels.
