Almost Human's quirky buddy cops will be back on Jan. 6, and neither of them will be having a very good day during "Simon Says."

An explosive serial killer is on the loose in 2048 Los Angeles, creating panic as he live streams his victims last living minutes before blowing them up. Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) and his android partner Dorian (Michael Ealy) are hot the case until Kennex becomes the murderer's next target.

While the department scrambles to save Kennex from Simon (David Dastmalchian), Dorian will be having a few issues of his own. If the situation wasn't already unstable enough, a problem with the DRN's power supply will make the human-like robot prone to entirely unpredictable outbursts. If only Kennex were near by to fix the problem with a bit of chewing gum and a cotton swab.

If viewers can expect anything from the abducted detective, they can probably rely on the fact that he will still bring a level of gallows humor to the program despite his dire circumstances.

"He's physically, emotionally a destroyed man but he is a very heroic man," Urban said of his character in an interview with Fox. "He's on the side of good and he has a wonderful sense of humor."

Hopefully his heroics and willfulness will serve to facilitate his escape and help him capture the bomb-making criminal.
