Da Vinci's Demons, Starz's hit historical-fiction drama, finally has a premiere date for its second season.

Viewers will travel back to the world of Renaissance Italy once more to explore the depths of Leonardo da Vinci's (Tom Riley) mind. As season 2 opens up, the 25-year-old genius will continue to utilize his eidetic memory and technically advanced inventions to further his quest for the Book of Leaves while the drama of the Medici's, the Pazzi conspiracy, and the Vatican play out around him.

Set to premiere on Saturday, March 22 at 9 p.m. ET, the David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) created production is expected to be even sinister than its freshman run.

"In the beginning of the first season, we were trying to find our tone. And in midseason, we took off," Riley said alongside Goyer's announcement that the series would possibly be heading down a darker path, according to The Wrap. "This is very much in tune with where we left off."

As the season progress, da Vinci will find himself out of Italy once more, but this time he will head much farther afield than Romania. With the New World in his crosshairs, the youngster will make his way across the Atlantic and find himself face-to-face with the Incas of Machu Picchu.

"I always pitched Starz that the show would ultimately be kind of a road show," Goyer said, according to the USA Today. "I described it as this secret history of the man who invented the future and, by extension, the secret history of the world. That means you can't just stay in Florence."
