Fox may be remaking Britain's Broadchurch as America's Gracepoint, but the network will be ensuring that the two series will indeed be different.

Considering the 2014-2015 event series is spearheaded by Broadchurch's creator, Chris Chibnall, and is set to feature British import, David Tennant, in the lead role yet again, viewers would expect Gracepoint to mirror it's counterpart, albeit with an American flavor.

A recent tweet by TV Guide, however, proves this will most definitely not be the case. "Fox's Kevin Reilly says #Gracepoint will have a different ending than #Broadchurch #TCA14," the media outlet wrote on Monday after hearing the news at the Television Critics Association Winter 2014 tour.

This decision could carry ramifications beyond the series/season finale if Fox were to pick the program up for a second run. While that season 2 of Broadchurch is gearing up for production in the U.K. based on the results of their season 1 finale, the new idea of divergent endings could potentially create a distinctly different landscape for an American season 2.

However, a new ending could also negate the possibility or necessity of a second season since Gracepoint is an event series rather than a regular, full-season series.
