The first edition Optimus Prime toy will be up for sale on Amazon starting Feb. 4.

The toy, which is priced at $59.99, is available for pre-order now. The dimensions of the figure are 4 x 9.5 x 12 inches.

In other Transformers news, Hasbro's CEO Brian Goldner also spoke about revving up the design of the Optimus Prime to match up with the next installment of the Transformers, in an interview with the New York Times. The toy manufacturer also revealed details abou the new Smash & Change Optimus Prime toy.

The spectacular special effects used in the series, which allowed for the robots to metamorphose their form very quickly, motivated Goldner to adapt that technical sophistication to the toys, as he asked his design team to get cracking on reconceiving them. The new toy has been enhanced with easier mechanisms and the transformation is made possible by the "push of a button" or a "flick of the wrist."

The release of the swankier toys also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Hasbro.
