Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman, is slated to begin production immediately, despite previous rumors and reports that suggested otherwise.

Star Ben Affleck has had to drop out of directing a pilot for Fox called The Middle Man due to scheduling conflicts with Man of Steel 2, according to a new report by Deadline. The report suggests that the filming schedule for Man of Steel 2 will not allow for Affleck to direct the pilot this spring.

Reportedly, production on Man of Steel 2 has not been delayed as previously assumed, and all the main actors are expected to begin working on the blockbuster immediately.

There were previous rumors that Affleck has sustained a rib injury, causing production to be delayed for six weeks, but the actor's appearance at the recent SAG Awards suggest that the rumor may have been fabricated.

The news that Man of Steel 2 has not actually been delayed contradicts the comments made by Gal Gadot, who is set to play Wonder Woman in the film.

Gadot revealed in an interview recently that she was slated to start production on the film in May due to the scheduling delay. While Gadot is rumored to have a smaller part in the film compared to leads Affleck and Henry Cavill (as Superman), it is possible that things are continuously changing behind the scenes.

Before the delay, Man of Steel 2 was expected to begin production in February in the state of Michigan.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
