Though neither Tori Spelling nor Dean McDermott has publicly admitted that their marriage is on the rocks following a cheating scandal, McDermott's recent admission to rehab may have confirmed that the couple is trying to work things out.

"What other options did they have? They'd already tried therapy, so it had to be something drastic," a source told People Magazine.

McDermott said on Thursday, Jan. 23 that he was voluntarily checking into a rehab facility to "address some health and personal issues," but wouldn't disclose what they were.

Dean McDermott Checks Into Rehab

"I am truly sorry for the mistakes I have made and for the pain I've caused my family...I take full responsibility for my actions," he said.

The decision to seek treatment after rumors that he cheated with 28-year-old model Emily Goodhand back in December is a move that could also help Spelling, 40, heal, though there will be no reported miracle cure that will fix everything for the actress.

"He's now willing to be treated. It's something that he can't control. It gives her a chance to understand why he did this and to not take it personally," the source said.

"Him going to rehab is like providing aid to a gushing wound," the source added. "It's going to stop the bleeding right now, but it's going to take a long time to heal and there will be scars that will never go away."

'Separation Not an Option' for Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott?

McDermott's first wife, Mary Jo Eustace, also released a statement about McDermott entering rehab, saying "I wish Dean only the best in his struggle to overcome the demons he has been wrestling with for many years, so he can become the father and the man I know he wants to be."

McDermott allegedy cheated on Eustace with Spelling before the two married in 2006.
