After the voice of Edna Krabappel, Marcia Wallace, passed away last October after her 30-year battle with breast cancer, Fox reworked its programming to fit in a special tribute episode for Wallace on Nov. 3.

The show officially wrote her farewell into the show last night, showing her husband Ned Flanders fondly remembering her. He rewinds to a time when the two of them are locked in a romantic moment, waltzing with each other.

Krabappel was also Bart's school teacher.

As a tribute in November last year, television network aired back-to-back episodes, both intended as a tribute to Wallace and her character on the show. The first was from the vault, Bart the Lover, which painted Krabappel's character -- who is otherwise quite cynical and mean -- in a sympathetic light. The episode first aired in 1992 during the show's third season.

When Bart discovers that his teacher is actually lonely and is seeking companionship through a personal ad, he starts sending Miss Krabappel love letters and even goes as far as to set her up on a fake date. But as he spies on her from afar, sitting by herself, he feels sorry for her and starts to work toward making amends.

The original episode, 4 Regrettings and a Funeral, that followed concluded with a tribute card honoring Wallace from the producers of the show. Wallace died at the age of 70 on Oct. 26. She had been a breast cancer survivor for 28 years.

"I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace," producer Al Jean said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. "She was beloved by all at The Simpsons and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character."
