After it was announced that one of the characters on The Simpsons would die this season, Hank Azaria revealed that it wouldn't be any of the characters that he voices.

The actor revealed the news to Entertainment Weekly while stopping by the magazine's TV Editors Hour on Sirius XM to talk about his new documentary series, Fatherhood.

"I honestly didn't know who it was going to be, and I do know...I can say that it's not one of mine," Azaria said.

The information allows for a handful of characters to be ruled out, including: bartender Moe Szyslak, police chief Wiggum, Kwik-E-Mart proprieter Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Comic Book Guy, Carl Carlson, Cletus Spuckler, Professor Frink, Dr. Nick Riviera, Lou, Snake, Kirk Van Houten, the Sea Captain, Superintendent Chalmers, Disco Stu, Duffman and The Wiseguy.

The Simpsons To Kill Off A Character

Executive producer Al Jean announced last October that a character on the series would die in the Season 26 premiere. Jean gave a clue that the character they plan to kill off is voiced by an actor who won an Emmy for his or her role.

That hint also reveals that none of the characters voiced by Harry Shearer should be killed off either, as he has yet to win an Emmy for the show. Some of his characters include Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy and Principal Skinner.

Actors who characters could still be killed off include Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Jackie Mason and Yeardley Smith.

The Simpsons is currently on its 25th season. In the past 25 years, it has been nominated for one Golden Globe in 2003 for Best Television Series Comedy. It has won several Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program.

The Simpsons airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
