Though he has slipped back into an unconscious state, A.J.'s (Sean Kanan) brief moments of consciousness have allowed for the inquiry into who shot him to be re-opened on General Hospital.

Julian Arrested For Shooting A.J.?

He previously woke up long enough to tell his son, Michael (Chad Duell) that Julian Jerome (Michael DeVry) wasn't the one who shot him, but before he could reveal that Sonny (Maurice Bernard) was the culprit and that Ava (Maura West) was the witness, he suffered a brain aneurysm and fell back into an unconscious state. Now, what he said has opened up the field of suspects once again.

In a preview clip for the Wednesday, March 12 episode, Michael will try and figure out suspects with the other man he considers his father (actually Sonny), unaware that the actual shooter is right next to him.

A.J. Confronts Ava About Connie

"If Jerome didn't shoot him, who did?" Michael asked Sonny in the clip.

Meanwhile, A.J.'s brief bout of consciousness has freed Julian from prison, and he will return to his apartment to find Ava and Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise), who both look nervous after they learn that A.J. has woken up, and could spill the truth.

"Aj's awake?" Ava asked her brother while casting a look to the side at Carlos.

"And talking," Julian confirmed.

The news that A.J. was briefly awake, and could indeed survive the shooting, could prompt Ava to try and enlist Carlos once again to attempt taking A.J. out once and for all. If she succeeds in having A.J. killed, not only will Sonny's crime go unpunished, but so will her own. A.J. was preparing to confront her about murdering Connie Falconeri before he was shot.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 2 p.m. on ABC.
