When Downton Abbey returns, fans may want to watch Edith and Gregson, according to actress Laura Carmichael.

Downton Abbey To Continue After Season 5?

The actress was featured in an interview with The West Australian March 18, which saw her dish on the relationship between the two characters, as well as the drama that will follow them.

Part of the interesting and new dynamic with Lady Edith is going to include a rebellious side, which Carmichael said she has enjoyed bringing to the surface.

"I liked having time at the beginning of the series to show her slightly more rebellious side, and really living and grabbing life with both hands," Carmichael said about playing Edith.

Carmichael also shared that there would be consequences that her character will face as a result of her actions with Gregson.

"She takes some risks with Gregson; She's out with this married man and that causes a lot of drama to come, therefore she doesn't quite get away with it all," Carmichael said.

However, despite the consequences, Carmichael is pleased that her character has truly grown up throughout the show's run, and is taking time to think and act on what makes her happy.

"I think it is great, she has really sort of matured and is doing things she wants to, rather than the things she has to, which is really fun to play," she said.

Carmichael also admitted that wearing a wig on the series means she hardly gets recognized off-screen.

"I was recently out and about with Jim Carter (who plays the butler, Carson) and I couldn't get over how much he gets recognized, which is completely different to my experience," she said.

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in January 2015 on PBS.
