Pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy is openly protesting the "Switch Up" twist enacted on the current 18th season of Dancing With the Stars, even saying that he might throw a tantrum after it happens.

Sean Avery Reveals Producer Manipulation As Reason For DWTS Elimination?

The celebrity dancers are set to officially switch pro partners on an upcoming episode of Dancing With the Stars, a twist invented for the current season. This means that weeks of rehearsals and building relationships will be out the window as everyone adjusts to a new partner.

"I hate the Switch Up idea," Chmerkovskiy told reporters, according to OK! Magazine, after the second episode Monday. "I don't want to dance with anybody else. I might start crying and throw a fit. But, yeah, we'll sabotage the show somehow. I'll think of something. I'm not letting her go."

While it is not clear if Chmerkovksiy is kidding about the extent to which he'd be willing to go, there is at least some tension between him and the newly-introduced twist.

Chmerkovskiy has already gotten off to a great start with his celebrity partner, Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. The pair received a 24 out of 30 score from the judges in the premiere and then received a score of 25 out of 30 in the second episode, making them one of the frontrunners.

America is currently voting on the "Switch Up," which is set to go down on the Monday, April 7 episode.

Dancing With the Stars season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
