The polarizing "Switch Up" twist on this season of Dancing With the Stars might actually be rigged, according to one source.

Dancing With the Stars Couples 'Upset' About New Switch Up Twist?

The "Switch Up" twist, which allows America to vote for new pairings for the celebrity contestants and the pro partners, might be entirely rigged by the DWTS producers. Kristyn Burtt, an entertainment writer who hosts the DWTS show on AfterBuzz TV, recently tweeted that America's votes don't even matter.

"RE: #DWTS Switch. I was not given permission to release names, but the voting was all for naught," she tweeted on Tuesday. "Surprise pairings."

NeNe Leakes, Drew Carey In Danger Of Elimination On Dancing With the Stars?

The tweet, as discovered by PureDWTS, was met with angered Dancing With the Stars fans who had devoted their time to voting for new pairings.

This isn't the first accusation of Dancing With the Stars being rigged this season. Eliminated contestant Sean Avery told Good Morning America after his exit from the show that his conflict with the show's producers were the reason he was kicked off the show.

The show has also caused some controversy after a series of shakeups behind the scenes. Longtime co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet was unceremoniously fired from the show just weeks ahead of the season 18 premiere and was quickly replaced by Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews.

Similarly, Harold Wheeler and his band were fired after being a part of the show since the beginning. They were replaced with a smaller band led by Ray Chew.

Dancing With the Stars season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
