Rumor has it that HBO's biggest television crime drama this year, True Detective, will not see the return of its two biggest stars, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, in Season 2. Alas, those rumors are quickly turning into facts. However, new rumors are suggesting that Season 2 will feature the likes of Hollywood heavy hitter, Brad Pitt.

'True Detective' Accused Of 'Unfair' Emmy Submission?

The first season of True Detective was set in Louisiana, and revolved around a 17-year hunt for a serial killer, which caused the lives of Detective Marty Hart (Harrelson) and Detective Rust Cohle (McConaughey) to intertwine. The murder of a 28-year-old former prostitute, Dora Kelly Lange, who was found dead wearing antlers, and a tattoo of a spiral on her back, is the situation that kicked off the entire investigation for Hart and Cohle.

However, with Harrelson and McConaughey not returning, program creator Nick Pizzolatto confirmed that viewers will see major changes on the show next season. "I'll tell you (it's about) hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system," said Pizzolatto during a HitFix interview last month.

'True Detective' Season 2: Brad Pitt Set To Star In New Episodes Of HBO Series?

Likewise, according to reports, unlike its first season, True Detective season 2 will be based on a different storyline each week. Plus, there are talks of a female actor starring in a lead role, and that there will be two directors instead of Director Cary Joji Fukunaga undertaking the task alone. On the other hand, one thing Pizzolatto assures will remain the same, is that he will "keep being strange. Don't play the next one straight."
