Todd Chrisley's tough love parenting approach has made headlines as he confesses that he really does drug test his son.

Fans have been getting a closer look at how Chrisley raises his children and runs his household ever since their show Chrisley Knows Best debuted on USA last month. One of the most memorable scenes is when Chrisley revealed that he has cashed out more than million dollars to pay for rehab facilities for his son Kyle, 23. TMZ caught up with the reality TV dad and some of his children in New York City. He made it clear that his attempt to keep his son off drugs was not all just for the show.

When asked if he really drug tests his son every week, Todd responded, "I do. I don't think it's a good thing. I think it's a necessity brush right now."

Todd also shared his secret of what he does to be a "good father".

"You know, I think that it's just trial and error. You gotta love your kids. You have to keep working with them."

As far as who he learned his parenting skills from, Todd said he is a mix between his mother and father.

During an episode of Chrisley Knows Best, Todd gave Kyle a drug test, but said that he isn't going to stop anytime soon.

"I had to come to a realization that the money wasn't gonna save you. You had to wanna save you. I'm proud of you. But I'm not gonna let up. If I see that you're slacking off, then I'm gonna put a foot in your [tail]."

Chrisley Knows Best season finale airs Tuesday April 22 at 10/9c on USA.
