Is there a chance that Doctor Who and Sherlock could intersect on screen? While its fairly unreasonable to believe the infamous Time Lord could just drop by Baker Street, Steven Moffat hasn't ruled out dropping Matt Smith into the series in a different role.

Will Matt Smith & David Tennant Team Up Again? The Eleventh Doctor Talks Possibility

Moffat is the current Doctor Who showrunner and co-creator of the BBC's Sherlock, a connection that makes fans of both series hopeful that their beloved main actors could popup in the opposite series. According to Moffat, that is a distinct possibility for the former Eleventh Doctor.

"If there was a perfect part for [Smith], there's no rule against it," Moffat told Zap2It. "We wouldn't want it to be stunt casting, because stunt casting doesn't work, so it would have to be just because he was overwhelmingly right for it. I mean, I love working with Matt. He's a phenomenal actor. I'd jump at the chance to work with him again. I don't know how likely that is to be on the set of Sherlock."

Smith, on the other hand, thinks his appearance alongside Sherlock's super-sleuth is rather unlikely.

"Listen, there's no room for me on Sherlock!" Smith said, according to the Mirror. "They've got Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Martin [Freeman], that's quite enough peculiar Englishmen for that show. There's no room for another."
