The Mentalist fans have been waiting six seasons for Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon to address any possible romantic feelings, and the end of the season may finally deliver on that front.

'Blue Bird Inn' Writen As The Mentalist Series Finale? Warner Bros Looking For New Network

With Red John dead, Jane (Simon Baker) has the chance to move on with his life. Who he wants to move on with - if anyone - remains unclear. However, now that Agent Marcus Pike (Pedro Pascal) is about to ask for Lisbon's (Robin Tunney) hand in marriage, the faux psychic is running out of time to attempt a romance with his long-time friend.

As the show comes to a possible conclusion, executive producer Tom Szentgyorgyi has explained that an important conversation about Lisbon's impending move to D.C. is in the duo's near future.

"It's something they're going to talk about and have several conversations about," Szentgyorgyi told TV Line. "It's a process of discovery for both of them, because these are things they haven't talked about before now."

Jane's recent behavior regarding the Pike/Lisbon romance has revealed that he is not entirely comfortable with their dynamic.

"I think Jane was feeling curiously like a third wheel [at the end of "Violets"] - something he doesn't feel very often - and wondering why he felt that way," said executive producer Tom Szentgyorgyi, according to TV Line. "Pike is with us through the end of the season, and he will become a increasingly important figure in Lisbon's life, so Jane is wondering what he's feeling, because he's been the most important man in Lisbon's life - and suddenly he might not be."

Will this feeling of unimportance push Jane into confronting Lisbon about his "third wheel" status? Tell us what you think in the poll below!
