Katie Holmes Divorce: 'Katie using Suri As Weapon," Hints Trouble in ELLE Magazine [Photos]

Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise last week and according to TMZ,  "the two actors have cut off all contact with each other, and her people are making it difficult for Tom to have contact with his daughter".

Sources told TMZ that things are "'really bitter now" between Tom and Katie. He feels betrayed by her and thinks she is using "Suri as a weapon".

Sources shared that although Tom has "absolutely no contact with Katie," his people are negotiating with the 33-year-old's professional team over when and how Tom can talk to their daughter. TMZ was told that Tom does speak with their 6-year-old daughter by phone at least once a day, but said it hasn't been easy. When Tom's on the phone with Suri, he does not discuss the breakup of his marriage with Katie.

As for when Tom will attempt to see Suri, sources told TMZ that it will not happen for a while. Tom was in Los Angeles on the Fourth Of July but he will be leaving before the weekend to shoot his new movie.

Katie will appear in an upcoming issue of ELLE. The magazine revealed the cover and an inside photo of Katie exposing cleavage from a photo shoot and interview that took place six weeks before she filed the petition for divorce.

According to celebrity gossip, Katie's interview with the magazine "seemingly hinted that the marriage was near its end."

Photographer Carter Smith who took Katie's pictures was quoted as saying that "Katie didn't speak about Tom in a lovey dovey way at all. She deflected the Tom questions and brought them around to herself."

The highlights from Katie's interview posted on elle.com are as follows:

On Tom: "He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years...I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that."

On whether being Mrs. Tom Cruise helped her in the industry: "Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances."

On being in her 30s: "I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I think in my twenties - it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out...I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase."

Holmes was just 26 years old when the couple began their whirlwind romance in 2005, and married one year later.

The August issue of ELLE magazine will appear on newsstands July 17.
