In an interview released on June 3, Harry Hamlin (L.A. Law, Clash of the Titans) discussed playing Jim Cutler on the mid-season finale of AMC's Mad Men, entitled "Waterloo". He also opened up about his character.

"At the end of the day," Hamlin told the Associated Press, "Jim Cutler is a bottom line guy. He's a pragmatic guy. He wants the best thing for the business."

Hamlin maintained that he was "forbidden" to disclose any details about the series finale, which is in keeping with creator Matthew Weiner's policy on discretion. Hamlin did, however, state that his character is indeed "a money guy." He tells the truth and looks at the facts, regardless of how unpleasant they might be.

Considering the fact that Cutler calls Don Draper (Jon Hamm) a "bully and a drunk" in that mid-season final episode, there is likely to be some conflict between the two as the program draws to a close.

Hamlin admitted that he "got a lot of hate mail" from fans after his character accused Draper of being a bully. They turned to social media to express their open, unrelenting opinions on the act.

This sort of response indicates that, whatever the series finale holds in store, fans will undoubtedly possess strong feelings about it.

The seventh and final season of Mad Men has been divided into two parts. The second section is set to return to AMC in January 2015.
