Is ex-Fifty Shades of Grey star Charlie Hunnam having regrets? The Sons of Anarchy star admits now that it was "heartbreaking" to have to back out of the steamy film.

Was Adam Levine Going To Be In Film?

"I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a good job of playing Christian Grey, otherwise I wouldn't have taken it on in the first place," Hunnam revealed to Life & Style last week. Hunnam dropped out of the role of Christian Grey due to schedule conflicts with his hit FX show.

The role of Christian Grey went to model-turned-actor Jamie Dornan. "When you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind, it's heartbreaking not to be able to play him," Hunnam said. "It was definitely kind of heartbreaking having to say goodbye to that character and not bring it to life."

Aaron Taylor Johnson To Be In Fifty Shades Movie?

Hunnam was said to have "incredible" chemistry with his Fifty Shades leading lady Dakota Johnson, who is playing Anastasia Steele. "I started reading with Dakota I knew that I definitely wanted to do it," Hunnam said last September about his audition. "There's just like a tangible chemistry between us. It felt exciting and fun and weird and compelling."

Despite all of that, Hunnam said he has no ill will towards the Fifty Shades team, including his replacement Dornan. "If they invite me to the premiere, I will go and see it there," Hunnam said. "If not, I'll go and buy some tickets on opening night."
