After X-Men: Days of Future Past has been blowing up the box office, could the Deadpool movie still be alive and well?

Could Deadpool Go Into A Different Dimension?

Recently, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that a Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds is "getting there."

The producer revealed that Fox is debating on doing the film with a smaller budget to get an R rating and that Reynolds is still Deadpool, at least to her. Reynolds appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman.

Why Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Are 'Low Key'

Jackman has said he would love to have Wolverine fight with Deadpool. "We sort of took a pretty strong choice on Deadpool, where we kind of stitched him up. And I love the character of Deadpool and I think that the sort of bada--, fast-talking, funny, annoying Deadpool vs. Wolverine would still be cool," Jackman said. "We've sort of done it, but I think we could have done that much better."

Simon Kinberg, writer and producer of the X-Men series, also agreed recently about an R rating for a Deadpool film. "Yeah, it makes sense to me," he said. "Genuinely, it's early phases, early days, but if you're gonna do a Deadpool movie, I think you've gotta do a hard-R, darker movie and he is the perfect character to do it with."

Kinberg also said to expect more superhero films, especially with the continued success of the franchise. "They [Fox] definitely have a sense of it and there's a real interest and appetite for how to explore and expand that world into other movies, into spinoffs, into different time periods, the whole gamut."
