Back in April is was announced that Jessica Lu, who portrayed Jenna's (Ashley Rickards) friend Ming Huang on the MTV series Awkward, would not be returning for the show's fourth season.

Will College Separate Jenna And Friends On Awkward?

Graduation is soon approaching for these high school seniors and with one last chance for everyone to be together, could Lu return for the finale? Or will the actress remain committed to her departure?

No reports have confirmed that Lu is open to reprising her role since The Hollywood Reporter announced her exit from the series. Her departure soon came after creator Lauren Iungerich also left the MTV hit, though their leaving is not said to be related. Since Iugerich's departure the show has been taken over by producing partners Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini.

Does Jenna Still Have Feelings For Matty?

Lu had previously promoted the show without indication that she might leave, including a 2012 interview (featured below) in which she said that people should watch the program because it is "awesome" and that she could not wait for the beginning of season two.

If Awkward is renewed for a fifth season, it is likely characters will either be divided or discarded as Jenna goes off to college, and so it is possible that Lu could return for one final cameo.

The MTV comedy continues this week with episode nine, My Personal Statement, which deals with Jenna and her friends really looking into college for the first time. This could mark the beginning of MTV's attempt to address the college question, which would play a significant role in reworking the structure of the show should it continue into a fifth season.
