Paulson spoke with E! Online at a Coven event about the upcoming fourth season of American Horror Story, subtitled Freak Show, and said that her initial reaction upon reading the first script of the season was "Holy s---!"

As Enstars previously reported, Paulson is slated to play "the most challenging character" that American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy has ever devised. As such, she suggested that she is overwhelmed by the prospect of her new character.

"I feel like that's the appropriate reaction you want when you read the first script of American Horror Story," she said, laughing. "So it's very exciting and totally nerve-wracking in the best way because you think, 'How the hell am I going to pull this off?!' And as an actor, I think that's an exciting thing to feel."

Asked about some specifics on her new character, Paulson remained tight-lipped, however she did make a clarification.

"Well, I don't know if it's a trait," she teased. "But it's requiring a lot of physical things."

Paulson will be playing one of many "freaks" in a struggling freak show in Jupiter, Fla. in the 1950s. Other actors set to play "freaks" include Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Evan Peters. The troupe of freaks is owned by Jessica Lange's new character, who has a German accent.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres in October of FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
