Internet users must be prepared for the computer virus which will affect thousands of users on Monday. The DNS Changer Malware will affect computers running the Windows OS next week. Apple users need not fear this virus.

To check whether your computer will be free from the affect of the malware, make sure you go to www.dns-ok.us/. This web page is actually becoming a hot internet trend right now as millions log on to check if their computer is clean. For those not affected, they will see a big green image, opposed to the big red screen that will pop up if your computer happens to be one of the unfortunate ones affected with the virus. However, this source may not be 100% reliable, as some reports say that it only works sporadically.

You can also check to see whether your computer has been infected with the DNSChanger Virus by going to McAfee's site advisor site. The site reads: "Your computer may have been modified by criminals to redirect your Internet traffic."

Social media sites such as Facebook have been notifying users whether their computers have been infected or not.
For those who have done all the checks and are infected with the virus, it may be best to back up the important data on your computer and reformat your hard drive before reinstalling Windows. Also, it is advised that all infected users change passwords saved on their browsers and applications.
