A new report dated June 30 revealed that Michael Bay has agreed to come on board the next Transformers project only if he is allowed to do a small movie before going back to working on the action thriller.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction Slays At Box-Office With Whopping $100 Million, Setting A Record This Year

Earlier this year it had been revealed that Transformers 4: Age of Extinction was only the beginning to a new phase in the series, and a trilogy will be led by Mark Wahlberg. But there seem to have been talk of issues between Bay and Paramount as he has set the condition of working on a passion project, like Pain and Gain from last year, before getting to Transformers 5.

In an interview with Screen Rant dated June 27, producer Ben Kendrick spoke about Age of Extinction and Transformers 5.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction Gets Mixed Reviews Ahead Of Release

Kendrick dismissed the rumors about the producers looking for a replacement for Bay in the movies.

"I think it's one of those classic things where somebody reported that and suddenly it became our plan. We have never discussed the idea of how to hand it off, honestly," he said. "It's not like we don't think, well what happens if Michael doesn't do it, of course you do. But we want to keep Michael on this, so we're not spending any time worrying about who could come in. We're trying to figure out how to keep him going and keep him excited."

Meanwhile, it doesn't seem like Age of Extinction has been a success with critics as it has gotten some pretty bad reviews pointing to a sensory overload with excessive use of technical, CGI mined wizardry and a lack of a strong plot, with the human characters almost rendered meaningless.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
