The 10-year anniversary of The Notebook has sparked a whole new slew of rumors that star Ryan Gosling wants to rekindle his romance with former girlfriend and co-star Rachel McAdams, but it appears the actor may have no intentions of reuniting with her.

Ryan Gosling Still 'Pining' For Rachel McAdams?

In fact, though the couple eventually went on to date for four years after the film was released, the disdain Gosling reportedly felt for McAdams on set was so great, that he even tried to get her kicked off the film.

Director Nick Cassavetes told VH-1 July 1 that Gosling approached him and asked for the chance to have a different co-star because he just couldn't get along with McAdams.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams Reuniting?

"Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not," he said. "Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?'

Cassavetes said he was shocked by the request, because he was desperate to have his two leads get along.

"I said, 'what?' Then he says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this," he said. "we went into a room with a producer, they started screaming and yelling at each other. I walked out...I smoked a cigarette and everybody came out like, 'All right let's do this.' And it got better after that, you know? They had it out...I think Ryan respected her for standing up for her character and Rachel was happy to get that out in the open. The rest of the film wasn't smooth sailing, but it was smoother sailing."

This is the first time details have been released about the couple's former dislike of one another before their love bloomed, and come at the same time that rumors have continuously plagued Gosling about the state of his current relationship with on/off girlfriend of three years, Eva Mendes.

Since Mendes was noticeably absent at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where Gosling made his directorial debut, it has been speculated the couple split, potentially because of Gosling still yearning for McAdams, who has reportedly been getting close to her Southpaw co-star Jake Gyllenhaal.

However, if the two originally didn't get along before dating, there could be a chance that the rumors of a reunion are just that-and the notoriously private Gosling and Mendes are just keeping their relationship out of the spotlight.
