Andrea Kelly of VH1's Hollywood Exes continues to support her daughter, who recently came out as a transgendered male.

Andrea Kelly Was Afraid To Have More Children Because Of R. Kelly

The 14-year-old child, who was born Jaya and now goes by Jay, announced the shocking news this June. Kelly opened up with VH1 earlier this month on how she feels about the change.

"All I can say about Jay is he makes it so easy to be a proud mom. For parents, we need to realize [our kids] have their own journey. Parents get it wrong when they don't support their children. They have to go out and fight every day and face this world. The battle should not be at home."

She revealed that while she supports Jay, her father is not as comfortable with the idea.

"My dad is a retired military naval officer and all he said was, 'I'm gonna mess up sometimes and [use the feminine pronoun] 'she' but I'm gonna eventually get the 'he' thing. Just give grandpa some time. I'm gonna get it dude.' That was it."

But Kelly's famous ex-husband, Ignition singer R. Kelly sings a different song when it comes to accepting the change.

Andrea revealed to TMZ June 27, that he still calls her Jaya and refers to the child as his daughter.

"That's like calling him [R. Kelly] a background singer, not the king of R&B."

During an interview with a Chicago radio station R. Kelly his thoughts clear.

"You don't really wanna open it up and say my daughter is becoming my son. Because if that were true...As far as that's concerned, always believe what you see with your own eyes. I've heard a lot of things about a lot of people that was never true. No matter what they are, who they are, they're your kids, you gotta support them. It's not about me no more."

He went on to say that even after witnessing things for yourself, you have to "know the back story. I don't address dumb [stuff]."
