As season 2 of Ray Donovan recently premiered on Showtime, Liev Schreiber, who plays the titular character on the Showtime series, spoke about the nature of Ray and Mickey's (Jon Voight) relationship in the next chapter.
In an interview with Zap2it on July 13, Schreiber suggested that even though Ray and Mickey have a strained relationship, they will look to form a stronger bond.
"Ray can't hate Mickey that much without, at some level, being desperate for some kind of connection," Schreiber said, "but that doesn't necessarily play out how you might expect it to."
The preview for episode 2 was also recently revealed.
The clip begins with the return of Mickey and how that could threaten Ray and his crew. Mickey tells Ray that he is going to spill some information, at which point Ray warns him stating that if he did that Terry (Eddie Marsan), Bunchy (Dash Mihok) and Darryl (Pooch Hall) would end up in prison.
Cut to Ray and Mickey in Cochran's chambers as he is seen telling them that the days of them making their own decisions are over. "These papers put you on parole," he adds. To which, Ray says, "You won't be able to control them." Cochran rebuffs stating that Ray will be controlling them, not him.
Ray is then seen asking his right hand woman, Lena (Katherine Moennig), to look into Cochran's history, dig up some dirt on him if she can.
The clip also highlights the tension in Ray's marriage as his wife Abby (Paula Malcolmson) is seen asking him to help save their relationship.
Ray Donovan's second season premiered on July 13.
The second episode of the season will air on Sunday, July 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
