The BBC sci-fi series is currently looking to bring in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit director Peter Jackson to helm an upcoming episode.

Season 8 of the BBC sci-fi series already has a slate full of directors, but showrunner Steven Moffat is looking towards the future.

Twelfth Doctor To Be Unreliable, Will He Leave Clara Behind?

"I've spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one," Moffat said, according to Wales Online. "He accepts that there's no money and that there's no time, and it would have to be when he's available - and I don't think he's even been available enough to answer our emails of late!"

Unfortunately, Jackson would prefer to work against the scenic backdrop of New Zealand.

"He's into it - it's just, 'Can you make it work?' I think he would also like us to go and make it in New Zealand!" Moffat continued. "And I'm like 'OK... I'd rather we just flew you to Cardiff!"

While fans wait for a potential Jackson-infused episode, Doctor Who will return to the BBC and BBC America on Aug. 23.
