Aishwarya Rai could be about to star in India's Next Top Model. Fans are more used to seeing her on the silver screen but she is rumored to linked alongside a number of names on a shortlist to host the first season of India's version of the popular "Next Top Model" franchise.

America's Next Top Model was one of the most popular TV shows on television in the United States, and stars Tyra Banks as host. Aishwarya Rai has now been connected with India's version of the hit show, but she faces tough competition of she is to get the part as host.

Bollywood favorite Deepika Padukone is also reportedly a name thrown in the mix. However, it is prudent to report that neither actress has yet been officially approached.

India's Next Top Model bosses are rumored to be hoping to get the show on air before the end of the year, and will likely run on Big CBS Love.

Aishwarya Rai appeared in Vogue magazine in 1991 and has worked as a professional model, and even became Miss World in 1994, which makes her the perfect fit for such a role on India's Next Top Model.

Deepika Padukone is also well known as a model, and has won multiple awards for her modeling work. Her fans would argue she is a closer personality to America's Tyra Banks, and is the more modern, young and relevant person to lead the new show.

An announcement as to who will become the host of the show, which is likely to become a hit favorite among fans in India, is expected in the coming months.
