Fans finally caught a glimpse of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey on Thursday. The trailer showed the first encounter between timid Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Mr. Grey and well as their steamy love affair.

So, who is Dornan off the screen? Below are seven facts about the 32-year-old.

1) The Northern Irish star began his career modeling. He's appeared in ads for Banana Republic, Diesel, Dior and Calvin Klein. The New York Times called him "The Golden Torso" in 2006. Jim Moore, the longtime creative director at GQ, even referred to him as the "male Kate Moss" in the same article.

2) Dornan can also sing. He was once in a band called Sons of Jim until they disbanded in 2008.

3) The 6-foot actor got big break was 2006's Marie Antoinette where he played Count Axel Fersen alongside Kirsten Dunst.

4) He's modest, very modest. “I question why all of this has happened to me,” Dornan told The New York Times in 2006. “I don’t see myself as particularly good-looking.”

5) He dated actress Keira Knightley for two years before they broke up in 2005. "The man is meant to be the alpha in the relationship on the money and power front, and clearly I was not," he told Numero Homme magazine in 2006.

6) Dornan married British singer-songwriter Amelia Warner in 2013 and they have a daughter together.

7) And, he has no problem filming sex scenes. “I grew up in a very liberal place. I’m not saying we had a playroom, but I’m not shocked by [the sex in the book]. It’s essential to tell the story. I can’t believe films that don’t invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me," Dornan told Entertainment Weekly last November.
