The recent Godzilla reboot directed by Gareth Edwards was a huge success, making nearly $500 worldwide, and now Edwards will be directing a Star Wars film in 2016 in part due to the success of his Godzilla film.

Official Trailer For Godzilla Released

However, the world of Godzilla is continuing, and, on Saturday, HitFix reported on some information about the upcoming Godzilla 2 that was delivered at Comic-Con.

During a panel for Legendary Pictures, Edwards appeared via video due to being busy with the aforementioned Star Wars movie. After this brief video, a clip was shown that indicates that three new well-known monsters may appear in the Godzilla sequel: Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan.

Fifty Shades Of Grey Cast To Include Godzilla's Aaron Taylor-Johnson

These are big characters in the Godzilla universe. Ghidorah is a three-headed monster that Godzilla has battled in the past. In particular, Godzilla teamed up with Mothra and Rodan once to face off with Ghidorah, which could give fans a clue of what to expect from Godzilla 2. Mothra is a giant moth, who often comes with two tiny Japanese women in tow, and Rodan is sort of a flying dinosaur. They all come from the Japanese tradition of kaiju film, which feature giant monsters doing battle.

Despite this clip, the indication is that Godzilla 2 won't appear in theaters until 2017 at the earliest. As such, this little teaser clip really only serves to keep Godzilla in people's minds while they wait for this project to solidify. However, fans of the older Godzilla movies are likely to be excited by the chance of seeing some old favorites show up.
