FOX's Gotham is taking a rather interesting view of the world of Batman, namely by more or less removing Batman from the equation.

Which Villains Are In Gotham Trailer?

Nevertheless, fans of comic books and comic book adaptations are excited, or perhaps excited and worried, and the people behind the show seem to understand that. On Sunday, TV Line reported on how some of the cast and producers behind Gotham feel about the task at hand.

TV Line recorded a video interview with some of the people involved, giving some pertinent thoughts on Gotham, which is a show about the evolution of Batman's Gotham city. The show stars Ben McKenzie as a young detective Jim Gordon, who mentioned that he's excited for the fans to express their "joy and happiness." The series also features younger, primitive versions of such iconic characters as The Penguin, Catwoman and even a child version of Bruce Wayne. It's a gamble, as in the video Batman fans are described as "the best and most ardent fans in the world."

Showrunner Discussed "Hope And Struggled" On Gotham

Donal Logue, who plays Harvey Bullock, Gordon's partner on the show, recognizes the responsibility of being a part of the Batman franchise, but says that he and the others on the show are eager to show the fans what they have done with this world.

Additionally, McKenzie, who starred in Southland as a cop, compared that show and its setting of Los Angeles to Gotham, and a history between Bullock and Jada Pinkett Smith's villain Fish Mooney. Executive producer Danny Cannon also called Gotham City a character, but calling your setting a character is pretty much a requirement for shows, even if they are set in a fictional world full of supervillains.
