Hannibal will take a jump into the future when season 3 airs in 2015.

Alana Bloom To Return To 'Hannibal', But There's a Major Catch

NBC's psychological thriller will pick up a year after the events of "Mizumono," according to Entertainment Weekly, and the hunt for Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) will be in full swing.

Hannibal's season 2 finale victims will have had a year to recover from their wounds -or decay in their graves - and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) will divert his attention from his standard FBI fare to focus on the fugitive cannibal instead.

"The entire first half of the season is relatively FBI-light," said series creator Bryan Fuller at Hannibal's 2014 San Diego Comic-Con panel. "It's all about the pursuit of Hannibal. ... The first episode is very much like a pilot for a new series starring Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson."

This news comes as a major relief for fans who have been hoping that Anderson's Dr. Du Maurier will receive a larger role in season 3. Unfortunately, extra time around Hanni may not do wonders for the retired psychiatrist.

"Hannibal has this M.O. of taking people and guiding them toward their worse, or as he might see it, better selves," Dancy explained to TV Line. "And by and large, they go off and do terrible things and they die. But both with Will and now, Bedelia, [Hannibal] has done that, but also taken much more interest in them."
