While Downton Abbey is known for having drama and difficult situations, one character in particular who will have a hard time next season is Lady Edith after having a baby outside of wedlock.

Season 5 To Have An 'Expanded' Amount Of Drama?

On Wednesday, The Independent posted some information from Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) when she and other members from the cast and crew made an appearance at a panel in Los Angeles. While Edith struggles to decide what to do with her child, it looks like she won't be receiving any help or sympathy from the people around her.

"Mary doesn't know Edith has a daughter," Dockery said. "So Edith certainly won't get any sympathy from her unknowing sister."

Will Anyone Die In Season 5?

Even though the two women will have some angry tension on screen, it turns out that the actresses have fun doing this.

"Mary's mean to Edith especially in this season- me and Laura [Carmichael] love it when they're mean to each other, it's more fun to do."

As Edith will be wallowing in her own issues, Mary on the other hand, is supposed to become more positive as she rises from the death of her husband Matthew.

"She's embracing her new life, really," Dockery said.

"She's through the grief now and I kind of see [Season] 5 as the new Mary," the actress added."She's got a bit of her bite back, which we had in [Season] 1."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere on January 4 in the United States on PBS, and to ITV this fall.
